How do i make a cutting from a sprouted bamboo stalk?

i purchased a sprouted bamboo stalk about a year ago, now it's almost tripled in height, i'd like to cut it down and possibly (preferrably) make another plant out of it. am i going to be able to do this? any tips on how/where to go about this?

Bamboo is one of those easy-to-propagate plants, and it is done in water, usually, but layering is the best way to do this.

"Bamboo culms can be pulled down to the ground and covered with soil and mulch and new plants will form at the nodes. This is the easiest and most reliable way to propagate bamboo plants from layerings."
