Is it appropriate to stalk a married man?

Not alot, just a little - like park my car at the end of his street and follow him for a while when he leaves. Or to wait outside his house so I can see what his wife looks like (what if she's fat?). What if I just do it a little instead of full time? No harm, right?

Is it appropriate to stalk a married man?
I'm with everyone here. And think of it, if he was your husband would you want some lady stalking him? i think that would be a no.
Reply:And if she is fat? sooo what? she's wearing the ring...not u! And men dont cheat bc their wife is fat...they cheat bc they find a stupid ho who is willing to let em F*ck! Find ur own man. Remember that u shouldnt do anything that u wldnt want somebody else 2 do 2 u! Call eHarmony!
Reply:Why on earth would you want to waste your time on a married man? Go out and live your own life, instead of sitting there and watching someone else's go by.
Reply:I think it's time to escalate it a bit.

You should follow him in your car till he gets to work and see where he works.

I think next, wait for him at work around lunch time to see where he eats. After he leaves, you can go in and order the same thing he did.... that way you'll feel much closer to him.
Reply:your headed for trouble...try to control yourself.
Reply:You should never stalk anyone. It's wrong. Find a new hobby
Reply:Why stalk him?
Reply:How old are you? How low is your self-esteem? Boost your self-esteem and try to make friends with single guys.
Reply:No, it's not appropriate to do that to anyone, married or not. If you want to know something about him, ask him. If you can't trust what he (or anyone else) says, why do you want to have anything to do with them anyway?
Reply:Totally inappropriate honey!
Reply:Well, it is never appripriate to STALK anyone, single or married...
Reply:Stalking is a lot like having a turb in your coffee – both leave a bad taste in your mouth. Stalking is for jealous people who can't figure out how to do it (make actual relationships) right in the first place. I had a stalker once. She made the mistake of falling asleep while doing her "stalking". She woke up to 4 flat tires.
Reply:young lady, don't go messing his life up. he is married. leave him alone.
Reply:I wasn't aware that stalking was appropriate at all.
Reply:if i ever caught you stalking my husband..lets just say youll find a new crush
Reply:You are just setting yourself up to get hurt....It is never a good idea to get involved with someone who is married...Find someone else who is worth your time.
Reply:It's not appropriate...

If you're afraid of getting caught or the fact that you're even asking this question... it's obvious, isn't it?
Reply:Maybe this should be posted under "Mental Health" or "Law".

Are you crazy or simply obsessed, a member of the paparazzi, from the CIA?

No, this is NOT APPROPRIATE.

A decent person will give this guy his privacy for his private life.

Back off and live your own life.
Reply:your lucky it's not my husband you want to do that to, you would find a 38 shoved up your a s s.
Reply:Stalking is illegal. Think about that. If he realizes you are doing so, you can be arrested. I think it was in 1987 the Law was passed.

How much of an asparagus stalk should I cut off?

:)

How much of an asparagus stalk should I cut off?
HI! Take a stalk and start from the bottom moving upward, trying to easily 'snap' the bottom of the asparagus stalk off. When it easily 'snaps', uniformly cut the rest of the pieces in the bunch, as they ought to be about the same. OR...cut only about A 1/4 in. off, and then peel the bottoms up to the green with a veggie peeler! Good luck!!
Reply:better safe than sorry
Reply:If you hold at both ends, then bend it, it will break at the correct spot.
Reply:You can cut off as much as you want, but if you just hold the asparagus in your hands and grap one end it will snap off where it should.
Reply:Like Joan said, hold it at both ends and bend it, It will break at the spot you should cut off..
Reply:i take off an inch or so. That's all.

How many ears of corn are there on a single corn stalk?

it all depends on the varieties, some will get 2 cobs per stalk and others will get from 2 -5 per stalk

How many ears of corn are there on a single corn stalk?
You can also got to http://www.1800topsoil.com to speak to a local pro. Report It

Reply:usually about five
Reply:A corn stalk has the potential of producing one ear at every leaf attachment. but because we want good standability and large consistent ears, Plant breeders tend to breed for 1 good ear. Even then on a good year with plenty of rain and sun plants tend to push for 2 good ears but will abort one if conditions change. Plant population also has an impact on number of ears. Remember all seeding plants have only one thing on their minds. Survival of the species. Good luck and think green.
Reply:One ear of corn per plant.
Reply:I just looked at all those other answers and they're all right. But on the average for average people growing sweetcorn to eat, 2 per stalk. That's what I get off my "Peaches nad Cream" every year.
Reply:Most commercial varieties of sweet corn have one large ear and another somewhat smaller ear. There are grain corn varieties that have more, and it was once hoped by lots of farmers that they could breed for more ears. The problem is that as the number of ears increase it becomes more difficult for all of the ears to polinate properly. Most of the idea went down the tubes when corn started being commercially harvested because lower ears don't mature as soon as higher ears and the top ears attract more birds and loose grain.

Can people stalk you online just by knowing your IP Address?

like for example, u went to a forum or u visit a blog, can someone else living in another continent stalk u and find out the websites u visited because they knew ur IP? if this is possible, how can they do it? no smartass answer pls.. thanks!

Can people stalk you online just by knowing your IP Address?
well, technically YES, they can...they can hack into your computer using server attacks....there might be other methods, but the one i`m 100% sure they can use are TROJAN viruses, they act like backdoors and they can use this to see your desktop, webcam, use your printer, change settings, etc...in other words, full access to your computer...however, this can happen if you accept files to be transfered to your computer via LAN, irc programmes, downloads of any kind, transfers from cd...the best deffence is a good antivirus + anti-spyware... by using your ip, i doubt they can spy on your computer unless they hack into your network, but your network has protection against those kind of abuses ... what they can do is steal your ip- adress and restrict your access to the internet..you should ask your internet provider/s about the level of security while online, they should know better...what i do know for sure is that your provider deffinately knows where you`ve been online (because the server stores your activity) and a person using a trojan virus stored on your computer can also find out by viewing your internet history...the bottom line is that if somebody wants to stalk you via internet, that somebody would have to go trough a lot of trouble to do so...it`s quite difficult, and you have to know exacly what you are doing
Reply:Yes, people can stalk you via the Internet. It's illegal but some folks do it anyway.
Reply:yes they sure can ams you should report them for this to yahoo customer care or your isp provider
Reply:I'm stalking you right now.
Reply:I believe it's illegal to stalk and to find out someone else's IP address as well. It happens but if someone on Answers told you how, then they might be breaking a law. So the answer is yes, but it is against the law.

Should I cut the stalk of my tulips after blooming has stopped or leave them alone?

Let the stalks wither out first. The bulbs are still getting nutrients from the stalks.

Should I cut the stalk of my tulips after blooming has stopped or leave them alone?
Hi michelle, ideally you should allow the Tulip stalks to die back first before cutting them off, resisting that temptation to cut them making it look neater, that way the plant is not stressed and nutrients are returned back to the ground.

Keep the flowers watered and fed and have a great summer!

Is it common for crows to stalk people?

A few days ago, two crows in a tree in my front yard started swooping down towards me, following me and squawking. I can't even leave the house without them going after me. I have tried to get rid of them by throwing rocks into the tree (which probably makes them more mad) but they keep going after me. One of them has even followed me up to a half-mile on foot. Is this normal?

Is it common for crows to stalk people?
Yes

They are EXTREMELY territorial.

Call a "critter control" company. They can help you get rid of them.
Reply:they're birds; they probably nested and think of u as being in their territory. the solution: a cat or spikes in the tree, new york style! ;) just kidding on the spikes. or just find their nest and move it (tho thats disturbing nature, which u should only do as a very last resort!). maybe call animal control and ask them about it! maybe try swatting at them with a broom. if all else fails, get a nice big hat.
Reply:They obviously have a nest with eggs/chicks the tree. They are extremely territorial, especially at this time of year. Once the chicks have fledged they shouldn't bother you as much, if at all. Throwing rocks at them will only make them think you are an even larger threat than you would normally appear. These birds are very intelligent.

I take my macaw and cockatoo for walks. They have harnesses and ride on my shoulders. But there is one street that has a flock of ravens (or big crows) and they will scream and follow us the entire length of the street and around the corner. They like to do fly overs, but have never dive bombed us. They just make a lot ruckus and try to look fierce. But they never harm us.
Reply:They probably have a nest in the area.

They won't hurt you. Just ignore them and the young ones will be gone in a month or two.
Reply:They probably have a nest in the area. Do not harrass them (stop throwing rocks at them), and try to find other routes to take. The babies will fledge soon, and things will get back to normal.

btw - if you are in the US, harming one of these birds or disturbing its nest is a criminal offense.
Reply:Please ignore them. They mean you no harm, they will stop eventually.
Reply:Sounds like an episode of Alfred Hitchcocks "The birds!"

The crows probably have a nest with young ones up there in the tree. Some birds get over-defensive of their young or the eggs. Throwing rocks won't help, you'll probably just aggrivate them more.

I'm not sure what the incubation period is for crow eggs, but once the eggs hatch and after a few weeks of growth they should leave you alone. If not, call animal control to come take care of the problem.
Reply:Yes, I deliver newspapers on my street and sometimes one or three crows follow me and squawk at me. It is always after garbage day. They think I am going to take some choice goodies away from them. Crows quite often tear into the garbage in my town.

Someone broke my sunflower''s stalk in half, is there any way to fix it?

It can be nearly completely broken, but if the leaves aren't drooping you might just be able to save it. Rather than try to stake it. Prop it into place and wrap some electrical tape on the wound, Then take a stick and tape it to the stalk for support. What have you got to lose. RScott

Someone broke my sunflower''s stalk in half, is there any way to fix it?
'fraid not. If the stem is severed, then you will have to accept it and try again next time.
Reply:IT sounds like there is no hope for the flower, if the stalk is completely detached. If the stalk is just bent inhalf, you can sometimes place a stake next to it and tie the stalk to the stake.
Reply:No but you could try again next year

Slugs are attacking my garden! They have eaten 4 of my Salvia plants right down to the stalk overnight.?

I've looked on here for some tips on how to control slugs and will be putting them into practice today! But I was wondering, as the stalk and the roots are still there, will the plants ever grow their leaves and flowers back? I only planted them into our flower bed 2 weeks ago.

Slugs are attacking my garden! They have eaten 4 of my Salvia plants right down to the stalk overnight.?
if it's salvia greggii and you live in the south, it will come back for sure. our's is very hardy and somewhat aggressive; you can hack the crap out of it and it'll come back in a few days. As for slugs, I use this stuff called Sluggo--it's safe for pets and kids to be around and it works well.
Reply:not sure but bet them slugs are having a great time!!
Reply:hiya, the best way to deal with this is get some beer in some saucers, and place them about your flowers, they love the stuff, and they end up getting outaa there heads on it,nice way to go really, HOPE THIS HELPS..
Reply:I go to the local coffee shops for their used coffee beans, this is an excellent non-chemical deterrerent when you want to avoid pesticides.
Reply:Get the commercial slug-treatment granulate. It works best. There is envi-friendly stuff which is iron-based (has some 'ferro' in it).

As for your plants: It's pretty severe and it's likely they won't grow back. Get new plants and kill the slugs.
Reply:If they ate them down to the stalk overnight. It might not be slugs doing that. It could be rabbits, or deer Slugs eat leaves usually-
Reply:get a big handful of hot chilli's and full head of garlic

chop roughly

put into a big pot of water ...throw in a spoon or two of salt

boil until the water reduces to half

cool ...strain

spray on plants
Reply:If I were you I wouldnt go out in the dark! R U SURE ITS SLUGS !!

I dont think your plants will grow back. I use eggshells and salt to get rid of my slugs
Reply:cut a plastic bottle in half.

fill a quarter of the bottle with lager/beer..(anything will do even the cheapest of the cheap)

dig a hole near your plants and put the bottle in the hole.

The lager/beer will attrack snail/slugs so they will drop into the bottle.

(make sure the bottle is deep enough so the slugs can get out)

cheap and cheerful and it works
Reply:try standing up old cd's in the soil they keep em away..or slug repellent or bye a hedgehog as they eat them.....
Reply:Probably not - but leave them in for a while just in case.
Reply:Yes they will grow back. And good news they will most likely multiply from the cut stem. Where one flower was before chances are you'll get 2 or more off the original stem. Happy Growing
Reply:Sprinkle some salt in your garden and the slugs will disappear. The plants will grow back but I would add some miracle grow to help them recover quicker.
Reply:They hate copper.Try and get some copper wire, or cut offs from a plumber and scatter them about the plant beds.Broken egg shells work too.

Why would a man rape and then stalk a women while bragging about it?
girl, any person who's able of raping, has some mental problem.it directs to men who have very low self-esteem and want to be reassured through imposing on women.that is one case.they could get obsessed with the victim and stalk it for years,in terms of intimidation.they want to show who the strong is.as far as other men listening is concerned, i can't know, i guess the whole procedure of the woman not wanting and the man imposing his mighty power on her turns them on

Perhaps it was cut too early.and was not ripe. It should be okay but bitter to taste. Cut the stalk short before preparing.

What part of a leek do you use for cooking. The top leafy part or the bottom stalk part?

How do you slice it up?

What part of a leek do you use for cooking. The top leafy part or the bottom stalk part?
Bottom white part, but not the end (it's kind of like celery, where you cut off the end.

Slice it any way you like, whatever the recipe calls for.

It can be sliced in strips, chopped like onion, whatever you want.

Make sure you wash it with cold water really well after slicing, since it can have grit in it, like celery does.
Reply:I use both in making leek soup with chicken broth.
Reply:bottom long slices
Reply:You CAN USE BOTH! generally you only eat the white part but the green parts can and is used in stocks and soups and probably more that my culinary mind has not learned yet

Source: I am a culinary student who took "Soups, Stocks, and Stews" last semester and we used both!

Oh rule of thumb: when the leak stalk starts to flatten out is usually were I draw the line
Reply:Use only the white and very pale green part. You can slice it in rounds, preferably, or just half it length ways for sauteing.

Leeks must be washed very well to release all clinging soil.

I freeze the dark green part for making my soup stocks.
Reply:you can use both, use the bottom for sauteeing, or frying, top can be used for soups and stocks.
Reply:you normally use the stalk, but i hear some people do use the green leafy part
Reply:Bottom half.

I usually slice it longways in half, then dice it up (across the layers) to form half circles, about 3-5 mm thick.
Reply:The white and pale green parts.

Leeks can be very sandy. Fine sand can be lodged between the layers. Cut the bottom root off the leek and split it in half lengthwise through the white and green parts. Leave it connected at the green end. Under a cold running faucet, separate each layer and run water between them to wash sand away. This works best if the cut end is under the faucet, running water and sand toward the green end.

When done, cut off and discard the dark green end (being careful not to get sandyness on your cutting board or cleaned end), then slice the cleaned part crosswise into thin slices.

Waht is the cow called in jack and the bean stalk?
The most popular and traditional name for the cow is “Daisy” Other names have been used- “Daffodil”, “Buttercup”, ”Connie The Cow”, Mabel The Cow”, “Constance”, ”Irene”, “Matilda”, “Jessie”, “Ethel”.. Notable “Skin” performers who have played the Cow include June and Paul Kidd., the Griffith Brothers, and the Shanks Brothers.

How is the edible part of the lemon grass stalk obtained and prepared?

18" long stalks can be purchased in super markets now, but the pieces seem to break into little fragments which are not very appetizing when added to dishes

How is the edible part of the lemon grass stalk obtained and prepared?
This is a very pungent herb and is normally used in small amounts. The entire stalk of the grass can be used. The grass blade can be sliced very fine and added to soups. The bulb can be bruised and minced for use in a variety of recipes. The light lemon flavor of this grass blends well with garlic, chilies, and cilantro. The herb is frequently used in curries as well as in seafood soups. It is also used to make tea.

"Bruising" is a common term found in recipes that call for using lemon grass. This process releases the flavor of the grass just as you would do with garlic. Simply press down on the bulb end of the lemon grass with the side of a large knife (such as a Chef's knife) or pound lightly with a kitchen mallet.

Lemon Grass Beef w/chili:

Ingredients:

2-3 pounds beef (or chicken)

4 cloves garlic

1 large yellow or white onion

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons minced lemon grass

1 teaspoon ground chilies (to taste)

4 tablespoon fish sauce (Nuoc Mam)

2-3 spring (green) onion stalks

2-3 tablespoons coarsely ground peanuts

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoons honey

Directions:

Cut beef into small pieces (either "nuggets" or small strips).

Peel garlic and slice finely.

Cut onion into 1/2 inch strips.

Peel off the hard outer layers of lemon grass stalk and discard.

Peel off the medium layers of lemon grass stalk for stewing purposes

Mince the soft inner layers of the stalk.

Heat oil in large frying pan over medium heat.

Add salt, garlic and onion.

Fry over medium heat until onion is opaque.

Add lemon grass and chili.

Fry 1 - 2 minutes until fragrant.

Add beef and cook until lightly browned.

Mix in fish sauce, sugar and honey.

Cook until beef is the way you like it.

Stir occasionally and add water if necessary.

Remove the medium layers of lemon grass stalk before serving

Serving Instructions:

Serve over white rice. Garnish with peanuts and thin slices of spring onion stalk. I like mine with a Vietnamese chili-garlic sauce (Tuong Ot Toi Viet Nam: it's the best hot sauce EVER- I sometimes use it in the recipe instead of the garlic and pepper).

I hope this helps.
Reply:Wow! The answer above was very comprehensive. Now let's vote for it.

How many ears of corn grow per stalk?

How many ears of corn grow per stalk?
It depends on the variety, but most sweet corn will produce two cobs although the second may be a bit smaller, count on one good cob per plant and plant accordingly, if planting in small areas, use blocks rather than rows. I plant ours in round gardens 4mtrs dia (because thats how our garder is set up) with plant spacings about 250mm apart and it works well.
Reply:I just read recently that each stalk produces only 1 ear of corn..I forget where I read it though,,sorry. I was surprised since I thought there were more per stalk..

What are your thoughts on women who stalk men?

I broke up with this woman last October because she was too clingy and boring. But even to this day she still wants to get back together. She will not accept that I've moved on.

This has made me lose all respect I ever had for her. Its pathetic to be so desperate and to want someone who doesn't want you. Sick...

What are your thoughts on women who stalk men?
Is she showing up places you go? Is she parked down the street watching your every move? Is she calling a lot?

I only ask because when I see the word stalk I think of an obsessive person who won't let you move without "running" into them.

He's always wrong, but he's not capable of the reason and logic it would require to recognize it. But I'm sure it's the most contact he's ever had with a woman, so at least HE got something from it.

EDIT--Stretchpants-Actually, I emailed you asking you as politely (as possible) to stop stalking my posts and commenting and name-calling; behavior that you've also exhibited toward several other women on this site. In short, I wanted the behavior to stop. YOU, however, far from wanting the exchange to end, wanted to drag out the matter unending, because it is the only direct female interaction you get. You can't "stalk" the willing, you relished our sad little exchange, and were obviously quite disappointed when it ended...thus, your desperate attempts at instigation here. "Winners" don't call for a "rematch", now do they? No ,because they have nothing to prove. YOU, obviously need to prove to yourself that you're "smart enough". And thus far, the "proof" has been lacking. The very fact that you are trying to call me out with these pathetic tactics speaks volumes, You lost before you began, and it chafes your hide as much as your unfortunate choice in workout wear, so you are trying yet again. Give it up, you lost. And not only do your desperate attempts at getting attention suggest how upset you are at losing, it also suggests that you have no life...this, apparently, is it. Your infantile whining, childish name callings, and attempts to "pick on" women such as Rio, Dierdre, Fraxinus and myself amounts to nothing more than the attempts of a little boy trying to get all the little girls' attention by pulling their pigtails. The only difference is that when little boys do it, it's cute. When grown men do it, it's pathetic and psychotic. I won't lower myself by indulging your pathological need for attention anymore. This is best left to the psychiatrists, and massive doses of medication. Good luck with all that, loser.

Reply:I know what it's like to be stalked by woman. I was recently cyberstalked through e-mails by a deranged member here that calls herself "Wendy G". A very scary individual, considering her obsessive stalking.

My response and solution involved dragging her into a nearly 2-week war that frustrated her and took a toll on her mentally -- she swore she would continue "forever" until she got the last word in and "won". She must've thought I was bluffing when I said I could go on for months. She eventually conceded and she suffered a humiliating defeat. She lost to a young man that she considered to be inferior, younger, and less knowledgeable. It was great whooping this stalker's azz -- her wounded buttocks and pride are still hurting. The entire stalker's premise of e-mailing me was in vain and was a total, miserable failure. The stalker even said she would never make that mistake again.

Basically, you can either contact the proper authorities when a woman stalks you -- or you can face your stalker head-on and whoop her butt. I chose the latter.

EDIT: Wendy G -- spoken like a true defeatist! LOL! You and I both know that you stalked me because it was you that decided to initiate the string of e-mails, not me. You didn't start pulling the "stalker card" until AFTER I had called you out on your obsessive stalking behavior. The truth hurts, and you merely had no other recourse other than to rehash my truthful statements of you being a stalker, and project them back on to me.

So sad to witness, yet still so funny! LOL!

When do you remove the flower stalk from Yucca plants? Or, do you?

According to what I've read, the plant usually dies after it blooms but it should send out baby plants for you. After the stalks have dried gently trim them so you don't risk tearing away more than just the stalk.

How do you tell someone that you don't like them to stalk you and look at all of your stuff without hurting?

This girl, my mom's cousin, she just thinks she owns the place. I don't want to be mean to her, or anything. I just want to tell her to stop bothering me. Like, last time she came, she got on my bed and crawled in. The she decided she wasn't tired and got up to watch TV and flip channels with the remote.

How do you tell someone that you don't like them to stalk you and look at all of your stuff without hurting?
You have to say what you feel. Say to her without swearing or yelling that you don't appreciate her in your room getting into your things. If she puts up a fuss or her feelings get hurt that is her problem. You said it the best way you could and if her feelings are hurt that's too bad. You have to stand up for yourself.

Okay, this will bug me until I find the answer. What were the old time standing corn stalk bundles called?

There used to be pictures of this in the paper in the fall 'Indian Summer' where I grew up. I found an old picutre my grandfather took 90 years ago of a corn harvest and I've been trying to remember what these were called.

Okay, this will bug me until I find the answer. What were the old time standing corn stalk bundles called?
Stalks were cut and bound into bundles (or stooks or sheaves). The bundles were collected together and arranged into "corn shocks" where they continued to ripen.

So I think they were called corn shocks.
Reply:Shocks And after they husked the corn the husks were used in pillows and the matress. Cobs were used for the stoves to keep warm, cook and even smoke there meats.
Reply:When corn is stacked in the field in standing bundles it is called a shock. The corn was shocked. Wheat is bundled in sheaves and the sheaves are stacked in stooks.

The salt draws all the water out of the celery, which makes it wilt.

Can you freeze Fresh Corn off the stalk?
Yes! Just shuck it and desilk. Freeze in freezer bags. We've done it that was for years and it works great.
Reply:You can, but it is much better if it is blanched first. I have been a corn farmer for 47 years so I know a little about it.
Reply:No. You have to blanch it first.
Reply:yes you can you can put it directly in the freezer or you can pull the husk back and clean off the silk and put the husk back up around it and the freeze it
Reply:Yes you can. Just cut off both ends of the cob, leaving the shucks on, and put it in a freezer bag and freeze it. It is a very simple process.
Reply:When I was growing up, we froze hundreds of pounds (over the years) of fresh, uncooked/blanched corn that was husked and de-silked. We froze them in ziplock freezer bags, and later vacuum-sealed bags. Worked great.

I bought a 9-stalk bamboo plant 2 months ago. Why is the stalk turning yellow?

I read somewhere that I should cut the stalk where it is starting to turn. Done that. The stalk is still turning yellow. It's only 1 stalk out of the remaining 7 (I throw one of the stalks aways because it was yellow) which is driving me crazy. I didn't have any filtered water so I left some tap water out on the counter for a couple of days then poured it into my vase. I'm at my wits end.

I bought a 9-stalk bamboo plant 2 months ago. Why is the stalk turning yellow?
Your bamboo is turning yellow for one, or both, of 2 reasons.

Either the roots have rotted, and died, or the plant has no light.

If the stalks are bundled together, there could be little or no oxygen from the water reaching the roots. Replace your water ( from the tap, no problem) often. Also, even these bamboo stalks need light to grow, with no light, there is no photosynthesis. Fresh water, regularly, and light ! All the best!
Reply:im a bit confused is this they type of bamboo that doesnt grow in dirt. if its the one that grows in water and gravel. The discoloration could be due to changes in tmeperature as you havent stated where you live. Basmboo changes color as it gets colder

If the stem is yellow you might want to cut it above the yellow and put the green part in water to start new roots. If they are indoors, the outside temperatures do not matter. Be sure the roots are always covered by water. Cuttings root quickly and easily.

It could also be caused by excessive exposure to sunlight
Reply:how wet is the soil? If the soil is to wet that could be one cause and when was the plant last fertilized? There is a special fertilizer for palm plants so maybe there is one for bamboo. Also is the plant getting enough sunlight or to much... they seem to like filtered light better than none or bright. And if all else fails go to homedepot.gardenclub.com and ask the experts.

What is the name of the bulb that has a stalk w/ 4 large, beautiful trumpet-like blooms on it?????

i need to know how to care for one of these...I was told that after it blooms, cut it back to the bulb, let it dry and re-plant????I am confused with this information...HELP!!!!

What is the name of the bulb that has a stalk w/ 4 large, beautiful trumpet-like blooms on it?????
The name of the plant is Amaryllis.

--After-Flowering. After the amaryllis has stopped flowering, it can be made to flower again. Cut the old flowers from the stem after flowering, and when the stem starts to sag, cut it back to the top of the bulb.

--Leaf Growth and Development. Continue to water and fertilize as normal all summer, or for at least 5-6 months, allowing the leaves to fully develop and grow. When the leaves begin to yellow, which normally occurs in the early fall, cut the leaves back to about 2 inches from the top of the bulb and remove the bulb from the soil.

--Bulb Storage. Clean the bulb and place it in a cool (40-50 deg. F), dark place such as the crisper of your refrigerator for a minimum of 6 weeks. Caution: Do not store amaryllis bulbs in a refrigerator that contains apples, this will sterilize the bulbs. Store the bulbs for a minimum of 6 weeks.

--Plant Again. After 6 weeks you may remove bulbs whenever you would like to plant them. Plant bulbs 8 weeks before you would like them to bloom.
Reply:You most likely have an asiatic lily. Or some other type of lily. I would not cut back the folage since the folage feeds the bulb for next year. Just let it turn yellow brown and it will die back itself. Depending on the type of lily you have some do best in containers and others in the garden but make sure it is protected in the winter with a layer of mulch.

Wikipedia has a good selection of images so that you can determine the variety you have then do a search to view the specifics for that particular plant.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lily

I have several different varieties and I love them all. But they are all different. I do not trim back the folage on any of them but let them stay there to feed the bulb and bulblets. I do cut back the stem that the flowers are on about half way so that the energy goes to the leaves and not to making seed. If you have the little bulblets growing along the stem you can pick them off and plant them to make more flowers too. They will not bloom the first year or two though.

Hope this helps,

~smiles~

What is this red, stalk, fungus-like plant in my yard?

It is growing on a path. It has been covered with mulch (but that has washed mostly away.) Recently we have also seen other kinds of fungus growing

What is this red, stalk, fungus-like plant in my yard?
It probably is a fungus. Fungi are decomposers so if you have had several kinds there is probably some type of dead organic matter underground (or it could be the mulch) that they are decomposing. Let them do their job and they will die out because there will be no more food for them. You can knock down the "above ground" part. That's the reproductive part. The part doing the work will not be effected.

I have aquired a plumeria stalk, I am attempting to grow it indoors in my michigan home and advice?
they are such a pretty plant but kinda touchy. The best web site I have on plumeria's is: www.plumeria101.com

It is a great site with pictures and lots of information for the novice grower. Mike Anders, who runs the site do a fantastic job with it.

You can grow Plumeria's anywhere with the proper soil and light conditions. In the states, they are usually grown in containers, and moved inside during cooler months. I trust you know that this plant goes dormant during the winter and all you have is a lot of sticks. It is well worth the time to grow. Be sure to visit Mikes website!!

Should I trim of dead stalk after bloom?

My foxglove has been beautiful but the flowers are falling off. New stems of flowers are growing? I just need to know if I should cut off the dead ones when the have finished.

Should I trim of dead stalk after bloom?
Foxglove is a biennial it lives for only two years you should leave them on and let them sit seed to ensure future populations. If they look terrible leave only one or two used stalks. Or you can wait until the seed pods dry and collect them and plant em where your want em. It's not a reliable enough perennial to count on to come back every year.

Does rhubarb have to be red all the way up the stalk for it to be ready to pick?

Thhis is the first yr my rhubarb is doing good ive made one pie with it and my strawberries that turned out delisioso. But my husbend says when i pick them they arent ripe, they have to be red all the way up.Help us in our new endevor.

Does rhubarb have to be red all the way up the stalk for it to be ready to pick?
Generally they are only red when they are young so your husband is technically wrong. As the stalks get older they turn greener. It is best to pick for pies when young and red. If you wait until the stalks are older and green you can make a sauce similar to applesauce, using the same method. Wash, cut, and boil the rhubarb. Mash and stir with a potato ricer and sweeten to taste with sugar.
Reply:It's better to pick them when they're smaller - when the stalks get big, they get tough and stringy.
Reply:rhubarb is mostly green

when it is ready to be picked it should be about

1" wide or wider....

the little scraggly ones are not ready yet....
Reply:If you wait for the entire stalk to be red, you risk them rotting. Mostly red is how I gauge when to pick them.

How do you eat a pear? Do you eat the whole thing and just leave the little stalk?

Do you eat it like an apple, or some other fantastical way which I cannot envisage?

How do you eat a pear? Do you eat the whole thing and just leave the little stalk?
For me, it depends on the variety (stop buying fruit in the supermarket - you'll only get the tasteless varieties, delivered unripe).

Conference are usually rock hard so I don't eat the core - but Comice, oh juicy juicy, a ripe Comice you have to eat in the bath, so I eat the whole thing, core and all.

Yo know how a banana tstes different if it is mashed? Same thing, but heaps better when you eat it with a knife. You should try it sometime.

bend the stalks and secure them with a bit of twine or an elastic band or tie them in a knot, give good manure feed once or twice a week.
