What is the best way to get all the growth to go into onion,and not the stalk.?

I see the stalks ane getting rather tall, while bulb is still small.

What is the best way to get all the growth to go into onion,and not the stalk.?
bend the stalks and secure them with a bit of twine or an elastic band or tie them in a knot, give good manure feed once or twice a week.
Reply:If You planted them this year, they probably won't be big enough to harvest until next year, but use all the chives (top growth) You want. By doing so it gives more energy to the bulb. And Yes, do deflower!
Reply:When start to get blossems on the top you bend (NOT BREAK) the greens to the ground causing the energy to go into the bulb!!! Making them bigger.. also watering helps as well too!
