Anyone else hate cats? I wish they were banned! I feed wild birds and the cats stalk and kill them for fun!?

I LOVE cats..but I understand what you are dealing with. Cats are domesticated animals and no longer have a natural niche of place in the ecosystem and should not be out in it at all..so NO it is NOT natural like all these people are saying. You should let your irresponsible neighbors know you are unhappy with their cats coming into your yard. Some states actually have "leash laws" for cats as well. If they are strays call your local humane society. Please do not harm the cats coming into your yard..but you can deter them. You can use unharmful methods such as hosing them or squirting them with water if they are near your feeders. Yes, it is a cats natural instinct to hunt and they should not be punished for doing so, but they should not be doing it outside in the first place. Cats are responsible for the death and decline of songbird species worldwide..millions of millions are killed each year by house cats. Scientists are becoming very concerned and have started a "cats indoors campaign". See more info here:

No, I love my cats and love cats (and all animals) in general. But I do feed the local birds and sympathize with you here. The cats are acting instinctually. And I'm curious if they are neighbor's cats or strays.

My cats are well fed and sit outside and watch the birds peacefully. They were a bit more active when they were younger, though.

So concerning those cats, if they are strays, you can contact a local shelter to see what pick up options there may be. If they belong to neighbors, maybe it's time to have a neighborly chat. Emphasize your compassion for the birds.

In the end, I'm sure you can come up with an amicable solution.

One hint : cats hate getting squirted with water. If you can put a rotary sprinkler out there and turn it on when they are out there, they'll run away!

Good luck with establishing a peaceful kingdom out there. I know you can.

I think bird lovers are cool, too.
Reply:It's a part of nature, its their instinct! Wow, I can tell, your obviously a jerk! I hate you already! I mean I get sad when I come home, and see that my cat has got a bird, but I get over it, because its a part of life! I mean when he comes inside, and the bird is still alive, I catch it and let it go outside so it has a chance to live.

But you can't just be going around judging things like that! Your so superficial!
Reply:.You can't judge cats like that!! Not all of them stalk and kill cats!! That's just horrible that you judge cats like that. I hope you don't do that to people! It's the balance of nature and part of the food chain!!! It's life...get over it.
Reply:Lots of wild birds attack and kill each other, as well, you know. :P Sparrows, for example, are particularly vicious when it comes to killing other birds and their young and stealing their nests.

It's just nature.
Reply:I love cats. It is not fun for them to stalk birds. It is a source of food for them. You eat chickens and turkeys which are birds. Cats eat smaller birds. That is how the food chain works.
Reply:Maybe you can feed wild cats and the birds would stalk and kill them for fun...

I love cats! Most birds aren't friendly. You can't pet them.
Reply:wow how can u hate cats? cats never did anything to u get over it. its extinct for them to kill birds and other small things that move around. get over it!
Reply:The cats are only doin what they do naturally. You may think they do it for fun but it's their instinct
Reply:"Humans should be banned".

That's what every cat wishes for.

Lol.
Reply:I respect them because they are the most sucessful predator ever. House Cats I do not care for, I like the big cats
Reply:Maybe your "wild" birds are getting too fat to escape cat attacks. Cut out the free lunches. (meow)
Reply:they dont kill them for fun, its just their nature!! All animals do that.
Reply:theyre sposed to. its their natural instinct.
Reply:It is a part of nature.
Reply:cats are better than birds
