What is the best thing or method of transplanting the onion seedling where stalk are cut nearest to the ground

since they are a bulb, the green blades are just a by product of them sprouting anyway. cover lighly with the soil and place some humus in there to hold in moisture acting like a hot house. they will be fine.

That will be difficult. If the onion stalks or leaves are cut that will encourage rot. Any water will travel down the cut stalks and into the onion and will rot the onion.
Reply:Dig up the whole onion gently, remove the baby and transplant. Replant the parent.

There are different ways onions propagate. Some have babies on the top of the stalk, some go to flower then seed like a real Allium bulb/flower that they are, some have babies from the bottom. (Little in*the*know information.)
