Why do people stalk? I think I have done it without realizing it. What is the definition?

I think someone thinks that I am stalking them. I wouldn't want anyone to feel that way and I would never do that. It's a scary feeling. I know because I have had stalkers. They have certainly misinterpreted things.

It means to hunt, keep tabs on, follow or shadow someone without them welcoming what you are doing. Typically it happens when a person gets obsessed with someone - not always with intent to harm them - because they are fascinated, enamored or infatuated and they don't or can't control the situation. It seems to happen more with people who don't have a lot going on in their lives and they have esteem problems or co-dependency issues. It is creepy, sneaky and usually unwelcomed and/or illegal.

Reply:i kind of stalked a girl i was in love with who dumped me. i was obsessed with her and she wouldn't talk to me. i just wanted her to talk to me was what i was thinking. i wasn't trying to harm her, but in retrospect one thing i did following her home was really creepy and it freaked me out when i realized how crazy i was acting.
