Can anyone identify the thorn tree I found in East Texas? 15 - 18 ft single stalk like a bamboo.?

Spikes are located at the trunk nodes. Trunk is green in spring.

We suspect this may be a young specimen and it may change at maturation. Compound leaves are singly serrated. Growing in an understory in deep leaf mold along with dogwoods and maples.

Sounds like a pear (Pyrus sp.). The beautiful showy white flowered trees you see in the early spring. In many areas Callery pears have gone wild. The trees that sprout from the small fruit they produce are very thorny and can easily spread. Take a look at this site and see if it looks familiar.
Reply:I think it is a type of weed.
Reply:Sounds like Arundo Dunax. Like bamboo it grows quickly and can take over an area. Does it have broad leaves, does it resembles corn stalks?
