Does the stem or stalk give you brain damage or cancer if you smoke it in a join????

A mate of mine seems to think it does but my cousin thinks it's the best bit so I am confused please help xxx

Does the stem or stalk give you brain damage or cancer if you smoke it in a join????
It is the smoke that will give you cancer. I have seen no medical evidence that marijuana will give you cancer or brain damage.

however if you are going to smoke the stuff I really do not advise smoking the left overs. it is kind of like eating the husk on the corn cob isn't it?

Reply:I'm not a medical practictioner but I would imagine smoking stems and/or stalks of the marijuana plant wouldn't put you at any higher risk of developing brain damage or cancer than smoking any other part of the plant. But I can tell you, as a daily pot smoker for the past 5 years that the stems and stalks (and seeds for that matter...) are absoultly not the best part to be smoking: they contain very very little THC, in other words, it won't get you high. It would be an impressive accomplishment to get high from smoking the stems or stalks. They are worthless, just throw them away. Your smoking to get high right? Well smoke the buds!
Reply:The bottom line is that ALL of it is bad for you.

There are links to mental health issues, such as schizophrenia, paranoia, mood swings etc, particularly in long term users, and then there's the usual respiratory damage as highlighted with ordinary cigarettes.

That's why its illegal. It's really not good for you. So why risk your health?

Reply:No, smoking stems, or seeds just is very harsh and nasty,

not really much THC in stems so the very, very, small

high you might get isn,t worth the harshness.
Reply:Yes, it does.
Reply:ALL of it is absolutely horrible for your body...in a ton of ways!!
